Rob Conner Kite Sketches
Here are my sketches for the kite project.
The top two are variations on the Conner Family Crest, the official coat of arms fro that side of my family. The one with the plain tree is the actual crest, and the one above it is the same, but with an actual map within the tree's shape. I did not find either of these particularly appealing for the concepts I had in mind.
The middle two are graphic chart forms. Both are a bit abstracted and surrealistic, adding to my personality. I am not sure as to whether I will put any words on the axes to further the purpose of the design, but I am quite fond of the brain and self figures included atop the bars on the graphs.
The bottom two are map forms. The very bottom one is a pseudo-linear form that outlines a sort of personal progression, while the one above it is more of a political map. Whether it would show any particular places, people, or concepts is unclear, which is why it is not my favorite choice.
(Sorry they are photos, not scans. My own scanner didn't work, and I couldn't get in to do it in the room.)
Camouflage sketches/ ideas
My original 5 ideas:
1. Hiding behind beauty- hiding behind ;lipstick, eyeshadow, concealer, bows, material goods.
2. Hiding behind the effects of time- candles, old/ new clocks, shadows.
3. Hiding from fate- palm reading, fate lines, stars, drama faces.
4. Hiding from a predator- zebra/fish scales.
5. Hiding your identity- masks, hand pattern with big face behind being hidden.
